Wadi Numeira

10/17/2015

It has been a very enjoyable week.  The past two weekends, I have visited two different Dead Sea wadis with the family.  This past weekend, we visited Wadi Numeira with another family and their children.  Wadi Numeira is unique among the Dead Sea wadis because of the long, Petra-like Siq that has year around flowing water.

Wadi Numeira is also one of the easier wadis to hike, even for younger children, and is well shaded because of the deep canyon walls.  We hiked only 1/3 of the wadi trail because those little legs can only cover so much ground and we gladly stopped for every toad, lizard, rodent, and insect encountered.  The children had a blast exploring.  Like many of the Dead Sea wadi’s, the 1st kilometer has a lot of trash from picnickers, but after that, the wadi is clean with few people.
